The Springfield Fence Company installs fences, repairs them and builds gates for homes and businesses in Springfield and the Illinois towns close to it. We are licensed and insured. Fencing is the whole trade here, from a short run of picket in a front yard to the perimeter of a contractor's lot.

- Walk gates, drive gates and gate operators

Why a fence is built differently in Springfield
Three things shape the work in Sangamon County. The first is the ground. Dark prairie topsoil sits on clay, drains slowly and freezes to about three feet, so a post that stops short gets pushed up a little each winter. The second is wind. Outside the old tree-lined blocks, yards face open farm fields, and a tall solid fence has to be anchored for that. The third is the rule book. Springfield caps fence height at 6 feet, and a front yard fence must be 4 feet or lower and at least half open. Jerome, Leland Grove, Southern View and the other villages each write their own rules, and many newer subdivisions add covenants on top.
How a job runs
It starts with a free visit. We come out, take exact measurements and talk through materials, then send a written quote that shows the choices next to each other. Before any digging we look up the rules for your address and help with the fence permit or the HOA approval. Buried lines are located through JULIE. The install itself is usually 2 to 3 working days, spread across about a week so the concrete can set before panels are hung. The crew cleans up and walks the finished line with you.
We work in Springfield, Chatham, Sherman, Rochester, Jerome, Leland Grove, Southern View, Riverton, Auburn, Pawnee, Williamsville and Petersburg.
